Last week we told ya'll about all of the wonderful benefits of using honey for your hair. We gave ya'll four tips to keep that beautiful mane together and we hope you put them into practice. This week we're back with six more tips for healthy skin. But first we're a recap of why you should be investing in some honey love for your hair and skin.

As we all know, raw honey is most commonly used as a natural sweetener in foods and for it's health benefits. It naturally boosts energy, stops insomnia, regulates blood sugar, aides in weight loss and improves digestion.

Along with these many health benefits, it also works wonders for the hair and skin and can be found in many cosmetic products today. It's antioxidant, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and humectant properties can improve your skin in many ways.

Here's six!

1. Natural Skin Moisturizer

Honey is a natural humectant and has the capacity to draw moisture from the air, making it the perfect natural ingredient for dry skin. Massaging honey directly on wet skin helps in hydrating and rejuvenating damaged skin cells. It helps to soften dry, flaky and chapped skin while giving a natural glow.

2. Pore Cleanser

The natural enzymes in raw honey are known to clarify the skin and keep pores clear. Its antibacterial properties also prevent bacterial buildup that can lead to skin imbalances and breakouts.

 3. Exfoliant

Honey contains small amounts of gluconic acid and other alpha-hydroxy acids, which gently remove dead skin cells and brighten the complexion. It can also be used with brown sugar or lemon for a deeper exfoliation.

4. Treats Acne

Honey is great for most skin types including sensitive skin, acne-prone skin, prematurely aged skin, dry skin, oily skin, mature skin as well as eczema and rosacea-prone skin.  The powerful antibacterial property of honey makes it an effective natural remedy for treating acne and pimples. This prevents acne and pimple causing bacteria from forming and the hydrogen peroxide present in honey acts as a disinfectant. Meaning, it not only heals acne and pimple but also prevents further breakouts!

5. Fades scars

Along with many natural oils, raw honey increases healing and tissue regeneration, helping to revive skin cells and diminish the appearance of scars.

6. Anti-Aging

Honey protects your skin from cell damage due to free radicals, which speed up the aging process and may contribute to wrinkles, fine lines, crow’s-feet and even sagging skin. Applying honey in your under eye area overnight will also effectively lighten dark circles.
